I have a 5th generation Fire Tablet, and it only connects to our 2.4gHz wifi. I have looked on the Amazon site, but haven't been able to figure out if any of the newer Fire tablets are able to connect to our faster 5.0gHz channel. The slower channel quits working up to 5 times/week, and I'd like to be able to use the tablet all the time.
I have a hd10 7th generation and a hd8 ... I can't get dual band on them but on my HDX I get it..when I had XFINITY I had it but now I have Verizon...It doesn't even show on my fire tv..I have to use the 2.4. I tried everything
If you're having trouble getting on / finding a 5GHz wireless network this tip may help.
Go into your router settings and set the 5GHz channel to 44 or below. Before I did this my Fire HD8 (7th Generation) couldn't see my 5GHz network, doing this simple fix sorted it instantly. Seems the Fire tablet struggles to recognise a certain range of frequencies. I read the following which seems to back this up:
"Fire HD8 7th gen sees only the 5ghz channels between 36-50 and 149-157."
