My 2012 Fire 8.9 second generation seems to have bit the dust. It won't charge past 4%. I've called Amazon Help and we've done the shut down/restart several times ~ can't do the factory reset as you need a certain percentage of battery to do that and 4% is all my old guy can do. I love my old Fire as it has the simplistic book carousel format, which the new ones do not have. I do have a new Fire 7" but really don't like it from a book list standpoint. I went back into some old threads and someone mentioned Ubreak/Ifix. Tried them (we have a storefront in our city) and they no longer work with Kindles as the parts are getting non-existent. I've been keeping an eye on Amazon's refurbished stuff and no old Fires have come up. Anyone have any other suggestions? I'm about ready to put a plea on Craigs List! Someone out there has to have a good shape, working Fire 8.9 second generation they have packed away !!
Thanks Pineapple. I am definately not that tech savy! I'd probably blow up myself and the house! I'm thinking I'm just going to have to keep my eyes peeled and hope the Kindle gods are shining down on me. And, yes, they are so much better than the new ones in my humble opinion.
