Just to let you know, the HDX 3rd Gen just received an update from 126.96.36.199 to 188.8.131.52. The explanation is the ever-popular "This free software update includes general improvements and performance enhancements".
I'll check it out and let you know what that means.
Noooooooo! Please tell me the update doesn't mess with the interface. I have an HD 8 and a 10 which got the 184.108.40.206 update & I hate it. I love my 3rd gen HDX 8.9 as is, even if it can't get the latest app updates.
Someone once said on a previous forum that the further to the right the changed digit is, the smaller the change is and less likely it is to be anything you'd notice - some little tweak.
I was the one that said that. The comment is from 30+ years experience with updates of software with anything from the most basic PCs to the huge IBM mainframes. With PC installs, it makes it very stupid when the default install folder has the version number in it. What happens when Calibre 2.x goes to Calibre 3.x (as it has -- not to Calibre 3.9). It's still in a folder called "Calibre 2" because I don't want to fix all my shortcuts (I have that one in at least 3 places).

There is no such thing as a stupid question!
