I have a dot, connected via AUX to a surround sound system wired in, and then connected in a group to an echo Plus.
The echo plus is in a room where we do not want to run speaker cables... but they keep turning the volume up to 10+ and its killing us.
How can I limit the volume on the echo plus? Is this possible without taking apart the ring / gluing it :)
There is not a way to directly set a max volume limit on the Echo - and I definitely do NOT recommend taking it apart!!
However, if you can clarify a few things, we might be able to assist. When you refer to "they keep turning the volume up," do you mean a person, a device, an app, or something else? Also - what is the brand of that surround sound system you've got your Dot hooked up to?
So the surround sound system connected to the DOT is perfect and nobody touches it, the sound is set on the surround sound device (sony)
the problem is the echo plus, in a secluded room that the person in there manually turns the dial to max volume.
I need to somehow... set device max volume on the echo plus... the only way I can think of doing that is to remove the ring on top, and or glue it :)
What say you?
If there is an APP available to set max volume on them let me know... There is an app for "android devices" but i do not have the echo and dot connected to any device that is smart besides themselves.
You are correct, volume lock/max volume apps are available on Android devices, but there is not currently an Alexa skill that would accomplish what you wish to do. I think your idea is a great one though, and I encourage you to Send Feedback About Alexa.
I do not recommend removing the ring or using glue. Maybe you could move the Echo Plus to a different location?
Hopefully our community will weigh in with some more advice!
In my case, “they” are my two 3 year olds. We listen to our Echo at 100% volume at all times bc I can’t stop them.
I imagine a max volume setting will show up a long time from now, once a few of the software engineers enter their 30s and accidentally have a few children. “Furbabies” can’t screw with the echo ever 15 seconds, so they have no idea.
