My echo plus just stopped playing sound in the middle of a song. The light ring responds, it appears to be playing on Spotify, but no sound for anything, including commands. I reset, unregistered and re-registered, and nothing. Escalated through Customer service and they said I need to get a new one. Customer service person deny that it was a software issue but given all of the threads that I see detailing this very issue linking it to software I'm not so sure they also offered me a discount to trade this in to get another unit but help me understand why I should expect to have to repurchase the speakers every few years it's absurd
Have you performed a full factory reset or just a soft reset? Depending on whether you have the first or second gen, you can find instructions for that >> here <<.
If you have tried a full factory reset and the issue persists, then it is likely not a software issue, as the factory reset process reinitializes the software completely.
The lifespan of your device can be affected by use. If you are cranking out tunes nonstop 12 hrs a day (not saying you are) with the volume set to 10, your soundcard may not enjoy the same longevity as that of one in a device that is used more casually at volume level 5-8.
A quick way to tell for sure if its software related is to connect it to a Bluetooth speaker, or connect a speaker to the aux jack in the back. If you get sound through the new speaker, it's not a software issue.
** I'm sure you already checked... but worth mentioning... open the Alexa app and make sure that your Echo isnt currently connected to a Bluetooth speaker. If it is, disconnect it and try speaking to it again.
