For the past few weeks, when I ask my device to "Connect to Spotify", it responds with "searching...I don't see anything to connect" and then mentions bluetooth and doesn't connect. I used to be able to just say, "Alexa, connect to Spotify," or, "Alexa, Spotify Connect," but now it's trying to connect via a different route. Does anyone know if there was a change on Amazon's or Spotify's side that is causing this issue? Maybe someone knows a workaround?
I am experiencing the same problem. Amazon's support has been oddly cagey with me in discussing it - at first ignoring the issue and giving me instructions on how to connect Spotify accounts in the app (already done ages ago), updating the device, etc instead of addressing the issue - the device is just doing the wrong thing with the command. Today I got slightly more information from a support chat - they're aware of the issue but wouldn't give me any details. It seems that it's something Amazon has done. They claimed it would be fixed within 24 hours but I'm not confident. I'm considering returning my Echos over this.
Please explain your problem , if it is Not exactly the same as jnonis post
Have you tried deactivating you Spotify and then activate it

It is indeed the same problem. Asking the Echo to "Spotify Connect" makes the device start looking for Bluetooth devices. I am posting here because I had a bad experience with the support agent I chatted with - I was not convinced of the truthfulness of their answers, and as this post is several days old, I believe I was lied to (I was told the problem would be fixed within 24 hours).
'sharp-as-a-tack,' I don't feel that anything you had to say was meaningful - I'm hoping someone has some actual information about this problem.
Unlinking Spotify and reconnecting did not solve this issue for me. To be clear, here is the problem:
Previously, with a Spotify Premium for Family account, one could say "Alexa, connect to Spotify", and what this does is put the Echo into "Spotify Connect" mode so that it shows up as a remote speaker in the Spotify app or webplayer under the "Connect to a device", like in the attachment.
This problem is well-described on the Spotify support forums:
Also experiencing the same problem. In addition, the Spotify app is displaying the Echo devices from a connected Alexa account as if they were "external" devices somehow already revealed via the "Spotify Connect" feature. They used to just show up in the app as connected devices with no specific label.
+1 to this very annoying "feature" that Amazon has introduced to hock it's own music service over Spotify. For 10+ Echo devices, a Spotify family plan and other Spotify users, this is one update to the Echo AI that needs to be undone immediately.
