Note: the only usage these devices really perform are weather checks and shipping notices. We do almost no streaming. We were actually out of the house for 2 weeks of the month with those totals. Something is very wrong with the Bedroom and Kitchen devices. 100+ GB a month down and (ESPECIALLY) more than 60GB UPLOAD is not acceptable. Especially as low usage as these devices are.
Here is all of the PD I've done so far:
- Contacted support, who was honestly lost with my description, it was actually sad how little technical support understood what I was describing. I eventually asked to speak to a manager to explain the issue and the troubleshooting I'd done but said manager honestly didn't understand much more than the original tech.
- Per their recommendations I have restarted and reset the devices and validated that they are at the current firmware. For the Kitchen and Bedroom devices I have done the complete reset/setup multiple times throughout the month.
So at this point I have disconnected all of my echo devices, even the one Echo and the Dot that aren't exhibiting the issue. I have to assume my echos are either defective or compromised. Especially with such high upload stats.
I'm more than happy to work with someone to troubleshoot these devices but calling support last go around was futile and honestly frustrating.
My home wifi mesh has an app (Plum) that monitors per device usage. Very helpful.
Was hoping Amazon at least monitored this forum, the customer support I spoke with last month was very unhelpful. The support team really only read a script and couldn't not really do any proper troubleshooting.
