This week Alexa asked if I wanted to change my Good Morning to Billy Crystal. When I said yes, she gave me instructions on how to change back to Alexa, but I have forgotten what she said. After a few days of Billy, I want to change back to Alexa. After searching for a way for an hour, I can't find any documentation on how to change back. How do I do this? Perhaps this could be documented in the help files.
I don't know if this is technically a skill. It is not in my skill list, and I never enabled it. It seems to just be a inbred part of Alexa. Thanks any help you can give. I say Alexa, Good Morning, and it gives me some random fact about the day.
Well, apparently I am the only one in the world that uses this feature of Alexa. I took your suggestion and spent 45 minutes on Amazon Help Chat in India. I was bounced to 3 different people, none of which had ever heard of this feature. Worse, as I got bounced from one to the other, they clearly were not reading the preceding conversation since each one asked the same questions and made the same suggestions, none of which worked and none of which had anything to do with what I was asking about. I have always been amazed at Amazon's speed, efficiency and competence. However, this encounter with their support group was breathtakingly useless.
This problem is trivial, but my goal in getting on the forum here was to document the method of switching back so that people in the future could find the answer, that I had been unable to. I guess Amazon thinks the Good Morning feature is not worth documenting.
Thanks so much for your advice. I just tried it and it worked! Out of curiosity, how did you know about this solution? I searched for a long time and could find no documentation of this feature at all. Hopefully, your advice will aid those who need it in the future.
You should take a job with Amazon. You did infinitely better than the three customer support people I chatted with this morning.
Alexa OOTB morning greeting - "Alexa, Good Morning"
To change to Billy - "Alexa, Let Billy Crystal tell me good mornings." Note - the first time I asked this, Alexa said 'hmmm - I don't know that one'. I then said "Alexa I miss your good mornings". When Alexa finished, I then repeated the above command, and Alexa switched to Billy.
To return to Alexa - "Alexa, I miss your good mornings"
OMG. so simple! I enjoyed Billy for a few days, but wanted Alexa back. I tried all kinds of commands, to no avail. Just said "Alexa I miss your good mornings " and it worked. Thanks so much. I had gotten my fill of Bill.
