The issue hasn't been solved yet, it relates to the SIM card country.
Which means if the application (Amazon Alexa app) detects the SIM cards are from Chinese providers, it shows "Alexa App Connection Timed Out" at the first time using the app.
There are ALSO detects in each function in this app, once SIM cards been put back, the app will be no functional.
It is not related to the network.
From my guessing is, it blocks the Chinese customers to use the Alexa devices in case that Chinese network makes uncomfortable experiences.
But and please, do a step to let the developers in China use this application functional with Chinese SIM card, thanks.

Gerry P, I'm in the US and I am using a US sim card and I STILL have this issue even after installing the latest update, resetting the device, reinstalling the software, clearing the cache, etc. It has never worked! Please reopen this issue as it is not resolved for everyone.

.Hi Gerry, thank you for your help with this; unfortunately I am having the same issue.
-trying to change wifi
-can successfully connect to alexa via app (I have a galaxy s7 with the latest update on both my phone and the app)
-I select the wifi I want (in this case, to xfinitywifi)
-prompts me with this guy (image 1)
-get hit with this guy (image 2)
-notice that my wifi is currently set to my dot, if that helps (image 3)
Let me know if you have any questions or advice at this time. Thank you!
Hello Spooner, Welcome to Amazon Digital and Device Forum!
I'm sorry this is happening.
Are you trying to connect to a public network? Alexa devices also do not support WPA2-Enterprise Wi-Fi connections, which are used for some public networks.
"I found a perfect answer to this. Make sure your automated time and date is switched on in your settings. My app worked instantly on my Samsung Galaxy. Thank you to whoever posted this info in the first place. I am extremely grateful to be able to access my shopping list again!"

This issue is NOT fixed even for US sites. I get the exact same failure I always get when trying to use a public WiFi that requires login.

This is a major problem.
I have tried all of the suggested "fixes." So now I have $100 paper weight sitting on my desk.
So frustrating 😡!

I have the same problem; I'm at a hotel, where there is a login page, but Alexa will not log into the internet. Each time I try, I get this message:
No network available. Please connect and try again.
CONNECTION TIMED OUT. PLEASE TRY AGAIN.
I have tried several times, no help and no access to the login screen; also no way on the app to enter my password (room number and name)
