Jumping on this thread too. Ever since the update my echo dot has been flickering. Tech support was really trying for me to buy a new one since I'm not out of warrantee. Even with the 15% off or the 25% off with possible gift card option. I don't see why I should replace what they broke. I've tried the reset and the unplugging....nothing.
Add me to the list. My wife's spot started flickering yesterday. Got straight onto customer service via chat. bought march 2018 and now 14 months later it started flickering. Obviously a software update has redacted it . Got onto the chat and same response, out of warranty so buy another one at 15% discount. Well sod you amazon, I am not paying for something that you broke, even if it is out of warranty .
I then found this thread and am amazed that I am not alone. So armed with this, got back onto them tonight. They are still not budging so I will now invoke my Consumer Rights 2015 as unfit for purpose and will be sending them a letter to that effect. If they don't sort it, then bye bye Amazon Prime
We own 2 Echo Spots. I noticed one of them flickering this morning, so far the other one is fine. Both are running the same software, version 637566720. I've adjusted the Adaptive Display and reduced the brightness which made no difference. Even if it had worked, that is not a sufficient fix for this issue. The product should work properly and I should have the ability to make it as bright I need to. I unplugged it for about 60 seconds and plugged it back in and, for the moment, it seems to be working properly. I will continue to monitor and update as needed.
June 18th update: I watched my Echo Spot issue get better and worse over the past week and now it's flickering really bad. I called Tech Support and they tried to give me the same song and dance about it being out of warranty. I bought it in April, 2018. He asked if I would replace it for 50% off and I told him no. I would not pay them for another one and only have it last 14 months. I told him that I had done my research and there were numerous complaints on their own Community Forum about this issue and that it was obviously a problem with device in general, not just my device. I told him they need to replace it and he agreed. I had to buy a new one out right and when I receive it tomorrow he will call or email me to issue the refund. I do have an email from him outlining this as well.
I'll call / e-mail you on June 19, 2019 regarding our conversation about issuing the full refund of $139.09 on this Order ID: XXXXXXXXXXXX Echo Spot - Smart Alarm Clock with Alexa - Black.
I appreciate your patience.

My Spot screen started flickering as it tried to do a firmware update. Contacted support and was told the firmware didn't upload correctly. and to wait until the firmware updates. The rep confessed they are "seeing this issue on many devices". Once we started talking about fixes I was told my warranty expired and I was offered a 15% discount on the purchase of a new device. REALLY?! This is my second Spot. The older one works fine. The newer one has this issue. Because I talk to the thing... I haven't even touched it pretty much since I set it up. I've got two Echo originals, 5 dots and 2 spots. They all need to be replaced now. Amazon getting to big to care!
Same here. 1 month out also, and the same song and dance from an outsourced call center rep and supervisor. Originally offered 15% off ($19 savings) and then after I stated that it is a known issue, linking website topics/stories on the issue, they went to 25% ($32 savings). I told them it is used to only set a alarm and stop the alarm from the bedroom daily. 30 seconds max daily usage should not cause this. And their pathetic discount of $19 or $32 is deplorable when Best Buy is selling them for $89 ($40 off) without a “ Loyal Customer Service” discount. When I said that I would disconnect my 8 Amazon devises (5 Echo’s, and 3 Fire Sticks) and cancel Prime they said they would add a $50 promotional credit to my account. Ridiculous! So I would still be paying $40+, plus tax for a defective product or an update issue that they will not fix/acknowledge. So, I will try the Brightness, Adaptive Brightness and 30 minute unplug first, then I will begin cancellations and move to the Google/Nest or Apple Home options. Thanks Amazon for being willing to take my money in good times, but are too big in bad to worry about the little customers. Other big companies have fallen in the past. I guess we’ll see what consumers choose.
Add me to the list too. One of my 2 is flickering. Luckily I bought them on Prime Day 2018 so still within my 12 months. Will see what happens and pull the trigger on a replacement in 2 weeks if not fixed.
My just-over-a-year old Spot started having the screen flicker issue about two weeks ago. Here is what I have tried over that time frame.
2. Factory reset
3. Unplug/replug (without a long wait) following factory reset
4. Unplug then wait a few hours then replug following factory reset.
None of the the above has worked. The problem persists.
I think the suggestions here may sometimes be temporary reprieves from the issue, but that’s inadequate.
From reading the posts, it seems that there are a number of devices, of varying ages, that all seemed to start doing this about the same time. So, I suspect the only real fix would have to come from Amazon. I see there is a statement at the top of this thread noting that they have reported the issue and are (hopefully) working on a resolution.
My Echo Spot just started flickering in the past week or two and it's driving me crazy. I'm going to contact Amazon in the a.m. for a replacement and see how far I get. Thanks for all the advice in this thread! I hope we all get a satisfactory resolution soon!!

MaElizabeth | Customer Service :

ME : I just need RMA to send the item back to Amazon and I can attached proof of purchase.I have 1 year warranty on item and it was purchased from an authorized reseller
MaElizabeth | Customer Service
I understand you but as I checked the order number you provided, it's not hereon your account so we were unable to create any label here. The one who have an access to do that is the best buy since you bought it there.
I just want to make sure what you are telling me...If I purchase an Amazon product that has a manufacturers warranty for one year from an authorized reseller (best Buy) contrary what is posted on your website, YOU DO NOT HONOR the warranty ?
MaElizabeth | Customer Service
We honor the warranty if you purchase the item directly on Amazon website.

ME : thanks
Cara | Customer Service I understand that you had an inquiry about the warranty. I tried to search the order number you had given us but unfortunately that is not our valid order number. The order supposed to be placed on Amazon.com
ME :yes I purchased from Best buy. they are authorized resellers. your warranty clearly states that you cover devices sold by authorized resellers
Cara | Customer Service :We authorized best buy to sell items here in Amazon but you supposed to purchased the product directly from our website under fulfillment of best buy. But it seems you purchase it directly from best buy. ME :yes..so you do not cover amazon stuff purchased from best buy ? direct ?
Cara | Customer Service : Let me check the resources here, is that an echo spot correct?
Cara | Customer Service We have our echo team that usually help for troubleshooting the device, but they're available over the phone. You can asked them if they can give you the warranty of the product. Would you like me to connect you?
ME : no, its late here and I'm just going to print this out and ask best buy why all the amazon stuff they sell is not covered by amazon warranty.
Cara | Customer Service : Okay, would that be all?
