Yep, thought of that. Now it won't find them at all. It is strange it did it on all of them over the same weekend. I'm thinking a software update on one end or the other. I never used the Phillips app to set them up, I just went right thru my Echo Plus. I don't have a Phillips hub.
I have the older round Phillips hub & a Sonos One which contains a built in Echo. The old hub requires the Hue skill to be activated, but it refuses to do so and I only get an error message stating "We were unable to link Hue at this time. Please try again later". Doesn't matter when I try, it refuses to activate & link. Something is definitely wrong. I have tried everything imaginable for hours on end and it's 100% not anything on my end. Reset my entire network, quadruple checked all settings, uninstalled/reinstalled all apps, reset the Hue hub, reset the Sonos One, you name it I've tried it. Hue lights not working whatsoever with Alexa and will not even find them.
A little inquiry found that most people still us the Gen 1 HUE Hub no problem.
What device have you installed the Amazon Alexa App on, and are you accessing it from?
I personally have an Echo Plus in my setup of Echos, which has a built in Hub, so I have no need for a Philips Hub. I only use the bulbs for on /off and dim .... via voice or remote work just fine.
The Alexa app is installed on my Motorola G5 Plus, but I also tried from alexa.amazon.com on my pc. All other skills enable just fine, it's only the Hue app that won't link.
Edit: Now I'm 100% positive there's something going on on Amazons end. I just tried again and don't even get as far as the image I posted above. Clicking on enable now instantly shows this & no longer even has me sign in to my Hue account to attempt to link. Again, other Skills are working fine.
I broke down and bought a Phillips Hue Bridge and using the Hue app for my Echo I once again have control of my lights. I actually like the Phillips app better than using the native Echo Plus option, I have a lot more options when controlling the lights as far as color. Never could get the Echo to recognize them again. I did have to enter the SN of each bulb in order for it to re-pair with the new bridge.
It just hit mine in the last few days, my Alexa App updated on my phone and now all 32 of my bulbs are unresponsive, everything else works fine, thermostat, smart plugs , and cameras. And the new app has no way of forgetting the devices to re discover
Exact same issue here 1st Gen echo plus with built in hub, after an APP update my HUE skill de-activated severing my link between the HUE account and alexa account, now i can not connect the 2 to control my lights.
Has there been any progress to report on this problem Jess O? I'm experiencing a similar issue and would prefer not to have to buy a Phillips Hub - that's why I spent the extra money and bought the Echo Plus.
