My Alexa continues to have a spinning blue ring when it's plugged. I've already tried factory resetting it as well as unplugging it and plugging it back in but to no avail. Anyone has any idea about this? Thank you.
Woo hoo. I found out how to fix mine. I just changed the USB cord. Alexa is back! Hope this is the simple answer to the many blue rings of death out there. :-)
I purchased 2 Additional Echo Dots 3rd gen last January (2019).
One of them came down with the “Blue Ring of Death’ a few days ago......read all posts tried every conceivable way to correct,,,,resetting, different plug, deregistering etc etc.....
to no avail.
Spoke to Amazon rep today who went over everything again and determined its ‘gone’.
Offered me 15% off new Echo.
I said wait a minute....reviewing my order on the Amazon site it says...”not eligible for a refund after February 2019”.......BUT it then says.....”May be eligible for a replacement through
January 2020”.
He asked me where that came from...I told him I’m reading it off the Amazon site. And I’m certainly expecting to get a replacement 9 months after purchasing it.
He put me on hold to speak with his manager....came back a few minutes later and said that his manager has seen that statement on the site before BUT the best they can do is
the 15%. I told him that this is ridiculous.....price is about $60 now.....they’ll go on sale for half that price over the next month or so.

Your order does not say "..”not eligible for a refund after February 2019.'" It states that the "Return window closed on Feb 16, 2019'" which is consistent with Amazon's return policy:
"Amazon.com and most sellers on Amazon.com offer returns for items within 30 days of receipt of shipment."
Any replacement or other order amelioration (which might include full or partial refund), beyond the standard return window and 90-day warranty, as indicated on the product page, are at the discretion of Customer Service.
Warranty and service
"90-day limited warranty and service. Optional 1-year, 2-year, and 3-year extended warranty available for U.S. customers sold separately. Use of Echo Dot is subject to the terms found here."
Regarding statement from 'highflight' on the refund/replacement policy, I have seen this exact language stating a refund by date and a replace by date.
I am experiencing this issue with all of my devices. It's infuriating, since now I can't leave them plugged in at night. No solution. I doubt that getting a new one will solve this.

I would try going into the Amazon Alexa App on your phone/tablet and uninstall/remove/delete it, then add that Device again.

Make sure your Echo device is using the original cord it came with and plugged directly into an electrical outlet.
Press down the mute button so the ring turns red. Then go to bed. This gives it a chance to download an update. Then unmute in the am. Worked for me.
