Echo 2nd gen is doing the same thing. Shuts off or goes “inactive” after a couple songs. Software is updated and still having it stop playing amazon music after about 2-3hrs? Any solution or help
Started yesterday. I have 2 echo dots (3rd gen). Kitchen one is fine - I only got that one about a week ago. Bedroom one has been fine for a month or so until yesterday. Now it only plays one song at a time. I re-set both by de-registering and re-registering but same issue. Kitchen is fine, bedroom is broken. They both seem to be on same software version (1913068932). I've renamed them, unplugged them etc but same issue.
I haven't set them up to play as a group or anything fancy and I don't think I did anything yesterday to trigger any changes. I only use them for music really so it's pretty annoying.
Echo 2nd generation?....same here, plays one song and stops. Lengthy discussion with AMAZON customer services (didnt have a clue) and they too are sending me a new unit, I somehow doubt this is the problem as alexia works fine otherwise, it just wont play more then one song from Amazon music. VERY FRUSTRATING ..
Same problem for months...nothing fixes it and super frustrating that there is no response from Amazon....Makes me definitely want to switch to an much smarter device than this...
Hi, I have the same problem. My Amazon Echo will now play 1 song then stops - turns off actually. It was working fine until this morning! Any ideas how to fix it?
Hi, I am now having this issue after 3 months of my Echo working perfectly, how do I resolve this, I have tried everything and spent an hour on the phone to amazon ad to no avail!! My software is up to date, I have tried reinstalling and setting up again but no use
Same here. 2nd gen Echo was working brilliantly until yesterďay. Been on phone to nice chap who assured me that they are aware and working on the issue. He'll email me when the problem is resolved... I hope. Bloomin annoying. The prob is deffo in Echo as my phone Music app clicks over onto the next song, yet when connected to Echo it just sits... and sits.... and sits.
Been back to customer services, they admit there is a problem but are still sending me a new echo which will cure it......how can that be an echo problem then. Will update Tuesday when the new echo arrives !!!
Unbelievable........Echo back working this morning. Spoke to customer services to cancel the new one, too late, even though it isn't out for delivery yet, its being packaged......so why cant you stop it? USELESS.
Asked if there was a problem with the sevice and was told yes, they have been working on it for a week. WHY OH WHY DID THE PERSON WHO I SPOKE TO YESTERDAY NOT KNOW ABOUT IT.
Now I have to send the replacement back, not a good system where CSAs don't know what problems are running on their systems !
Robert Br = "WHY OH WHY DID THE PERSON WHO I SPOKE TO YESTERDAY NOT KNOW ABOUT IT. "
Very likely because that are just someone who is just working off a script in a call center like environment , they do not have all the up to date until that information is sent out , one of the reason I suggested everyone contact them is so they could put the problem into the system.
"Now I have to send the replacement back, "
They will pay for the shipping. and you can print a return label.
"they too are sending me a new unit, I somehow doubt this is the problem as alexia works fine otherwise,"
You Did NOT object to them sending you a New unit.

Every customer service dept I have ever been involved with have team briefings at beginning of shift so that everyone is aware of issues. A shame Amazon don't, the last person I spoke to admitted the problem had been going on for over a week. Sorry but I rest my case, the person I spoke to initially should have been aware.
We're very sorry for the poor experience you've had with this! It looks like the issue has been resolved so I would recommend restarting your device by unplugging it just to be safe.
This issue has NOT been resolved. I have tried everything I can and still today my 2 Echo Dot 2nd Gen devices stop playing radio stations on TuneIn and IHeart after 10 or 15 minutes. This has been going on now for weeks. I contacted Amazon Tech and they really have no concrete ideas on what is wrong. Please stop saying this is resolved when it clearly is not.
Hello, this problem doesn’t seem to be resolved at all. Whether I ask Alexa to play directly from Spotify or if I stream from my phone it stops after the 3rd or 4th song and never manages to make it through the playlist. I have to ask Alexa to play the next song which leads to it playing the last song played and another few songs before shutting off again. It’s doing this on all of my echo dots and echo. Please help?
p.s. yes I have restarted all devices including my router. I have unlinked my Spotify account and relinked. I don’t have this problem with my google home so it’s definitely the echo devices.

I had the same problem. I rebooted the source of wifi (wcb3000) for the device and it now plays on the everywhere group.
I'm having this issue too.

Is it worth trying factory reset??
I too am now having this issue on my Echo Show as it stops playing any album or playlist after one song. The other 3 devices are all fine.
I have requested a replacement but I suspect the issue isn't with the unit. Time will tell if the replacement is okay.
