I am now having this issue on all 7 of my Echo devices. Since the issue is not isolated to one device I am not going to attempt a reset of the device since that is clearly not the issue. It has to be a software issue. I am contacting support, on the phone right now with them and they have no idea what I am talking about. If I get any kind of resolution I will post again, but I do encourage anyone with the problem to contact support so that they know how many people this is happening to. It is really frustrating to have invested so much money in a product to have it stop working.
I think it would be more productive if those needing support go into chat support and ask there. Then give them the link to this forum thread and mention that I too have contacted support and have a pending Case ID (which I was told not to share here as it is connected to my account).
Ask to be escalated to a representative of their development team.
I agree, that if more tell them about this, it might help.
I've had to change the volume up/down a couple times on my Echo but so far haven't had any really bad issues where I would not hear it. Luckily I'm always able to hear Alexa OK.
I did notice that the volume does go down while streaming some things like news skills, for example. And sometimes Alexa herself seems quieter and other times louder.
Same issue here. In the last week 2 of my echo dot devices that I use in the kids room as sleep sound machines for the night started doing this. Basically start sleep sounds and then after an hour or sometimes more the volume gets lowered to 1 or 2 without any intervention from us.
I have contacted the chat support and raised a case ID / trouble ticket.
Hopefully this will get raised as a priority issue, as its super annoying.
I will also try a device reset in hope it clears things out. Will report back after a few days post-reset.
@DaDD: Sounds to me like it's not an Echo speaker problem but it's with their network or Alexa herself? Did you go into chat and get a ticket started with support? Might want to let them know so they know it's not the devices themselves but something in their server or software on the Alexa AI end.
I've been through Echo support hell for them not working on mesh wifi, so I'm not going to subject myself to it again to send them to this thread. However, it's happening on my Echo Dots, too. As cool as these things can be, the flaws are annoying AF.
Latest update, my devices are still doing this and I have been getting follow up calls from the Amazon Echo support team every 3-5 days. They wanted me to mess around with some settings in my Alexa app that my app doesn't even have (apparently they are in beta or something). Either way I don't have that setting yet and so that was not the issue. This last call, I was told that this is a "known issue" and that as soon as they have a solution, I will get another call.
I have 6 devices throughout my home. I started having the same problem. It seems to have started when Amazon changed the Alexa response from "Okay" to a beep. They realy need to fix this. It is very inconvienient to have to stop what you're doing to go turn up the volume before you can hear the answer to you question.Like I said, they really need to fix this.
I’ve have this issue on all 5 of my echo dots. I haven’t found a fix, but here is a bandaid solution. Use the Alexa mobile app to set up a routine that will set the volume of your echo devices at a scheduled time. I’ve set up a routine for each of my dots so that the volume gets turned up twice daily. Hope this helps some of you till amazon gives us a real solution.
Having the same issue with all 4 of my echoes as well... Every few hours it plays the volume 'boop' noise and resets its volume. There's no routine set up to do this or any bluetooth devices connected. It's seriously annoying!
I had written to someone named Mary about my echo dot. I cannot get the device's volume to sound later. If was working fine then it started humming and the voice went down so I couldn't hear it. It still shows the blue ring and the orange ring, but no sound. Any advice. It is still under warranty. This Mary gave me a phone number to call but deleted the email in error. I need help with this. I also own a Kindle 10 with Alexa but will not turn on. I held the button for 40 seconds then released it, and pushed the number again. Still nothing. So I need help on two different alexa's.
Hello everyone. I encountered this problem today with my amazon echo while playing Spotify. I couldn’t increase the volume via the echo but when I increased the volume through my phone it would return to the lowest volume. After about 45 minutes of frustration I decided to unplug the echo and after turning back on the problem was resolved. I wish I thought of it earlier! If you somehow haven’t tried turning it off and on I highly recommend it!
I too have been experiencing this issue. I noticed that it seemed to be happening after playing TuneIn radio on my Multi-Room group (8 echos). I deleted the Multi-Room group through the Alexa app, rebooted all the devices and so far, after 1 week, the volume hasn't dropped.
It's December 14th, 2018. I have two Dots (2nd & 3rd gen) and an Echo it seems that in my case only the Dot's are affected. Really annoying having to constantly turn up the volume every time I want to use it.
