Received my Echo Show as a gift back in March of this year. Flickering issue for me began back in late May. Have been following this forum since that time. Like everyone else have tried all the posted suggested steps (including making sure latest update was installed), without any success. Today (7/3/2018) per post #76 from Jess O I contacted Amazon to officially report that my Echo Show was exhibiting the flickering problem as described in this forum. After taking my account information I was transferred to the Echo team to learn what my options were. They explained that development was aware of the problem and that I could get a replacement (brand new-not a refurbished) Echo Show shipped to me by Thursday July 5th along with a RMA for the return of my defective unit. I specifically asked what assurance do I have the replacement won't have or the develop the same problem? It was explained the problem would not occur with the new replacement unit.
Same story here. Purchased in May, flickering started a month or so ago. Adaptive brightness being on definately made it worse and turning the brightness right down low improved it but seemed to be getting worse and worse. Found this page and did to switch on and off things but just came back. Watched on here for a while to see if there was any update but gave up and Spoke to Amazon yesterday and got a replacement today (always excellent customer service!)
Request a call via the Alexa or amazon app and get an instant call back. Whenever have called amazon they can not do enough to help.
I had the same problem with my echo show, I called Amazon for help, got into chat contact with Amazon and the issue was resolved. They asked and guided me to reset the show to factory standards and Bingo!, the issue disappeared.
Try this instead of returning your show for review and repair.
My Echo show was returned for repair due to the screen flicker issue. I was told it was repaired and has new firmware. It worked fine for a month or so and now it's flickering again. I haven't changed any factory settings. It's getting really annoying... Can someone from Amazon help please?
I opted for the callback from the Alexa app. I was called immediately and a friendly tech helped get me another RMA and shipped another replacement. Hopefully this one will be one that does not flicker.
This flickering is driving me crazy! I have done everything on this thread including factory default and unplugging. I guess I am calling help desk. This is just sad. What a pain to have to go through sending for repair!
Update: Just got off the phone with Amazon who is , by the way, the best customer service ever! And I work for a big Telecom giant company! Anyway she had me download a new update and the screen flickering went away like magic! We’ll see for how long.
I just called Amazon....I have 2 shows....one has the flicker the other does not. Paid full price for the one that doesn’t flicker....paid $50 less on the one that flickers. Wondering if the flickering ones are refurbished? Hence the ability to sell for less on Amazon...returning mine for repair. Ridiculous that there isn’t a fix for an issue that their seems not to be a perm fix...that or a refund.
I received my first echo show for Christmas 2017. Flicker started and called customer service to get a replacement. It was good for a month or 2 and the flicker started on the replacement unit. Called customer service and they sent me a brand new unit about 2 months ago. The flicker started with this 3rd unit a few nights ago. Here we go again.
I just received my 3rd Echo Show and am getting it set up. It's installing updates as I'm typing this.
A couple of interesting things happened with this 3rd one--like most of you, my first one was purchased during the Christmas sale. I started having problems in February (I was the one who started this thread), returned it, and started having problems with the replacement. I called about it after waiting for an update and was told that they were aware and to be patient and wait for a few weeks. I waited for a couple of months before I called back. During that call, I did mention about being concerned about my warranty expiring before they fixed the issue.
Thursday, August 9, I called and arranged to send back for "repair." Sent it August 10th. Received an email saying that it could not be fixed and that a replacement was being sent. This time, the item was listed as "Introducing Echo Show" and it was sold by Warehouse Deals, Inc., which is an Amazon company. The next day after that email, I received another one saying that I was being refunded $129.96--about $20 less than I had paid, which was $149.99 and I did a 5 month payment plan.
So today, I received my Echo Show replacement and on August 15th, received $129.96 (which showed up as several refund amounts) back into my checking account. From reading what I know about Warehouse Deals, there is no warranty on this Echo Show but I do have a month to return it.
I was not given an explanation as to why I was refunded most of my money but obviously, I'm not complaining. if this Echo Show starts flickering like the others, I'm stuck with it but at least I can still listen to music and turn off/on my enabled devices and maybe it won't flicker all the time. Hopefully they'll bring out a newer version of the Echo Show and I will buy one if I'm having problems with this one.
My advice to everyone having issues--even though it's a pain, keep calling about it.
Ordered the echo show on 4th of July 2018 and today I noticed a flickering line near the bottom of the screen. Now I see that it is an ongoing problem and Amazon is aware that there is a problem, I wouldn't have bought it at all. Trying to get through this maze of click prompts to find the right place to discuss the problem with someone. I will have to see if I can find a number or email tomorrow. Of course the warranty is past.
Through the Alexa app, you can have customer service call you. To save time, try the stuff that's in this thread with regards to unplugging, etc. and when you call, say that you've seen this thread where a moderator mentioned that they're aware of the problem, etc. and that you've tried what was suggested for trying to resolve the issue and that you're still having problems. That way the call goes faster because that's what they're going to have you try and then set up for a "repair." Unless you bought it refurbished or from Warehouse Deals, Inc., you have a year warranty.
I bought two Echo Show devices in March 2018. One was a gift for the family in Michigan, the other being used here in Texas. The one in Michigan started the screen flicker problem last month and they sent it in for a replacement. The one here started flickering last week.
I unplugged the device and plugged it back in for a reboot last week. The screen flicker went away. I noticed it flickering again this morning. Rebooted it and it was OK for a little while. Noticed that it does not flicker when the screen is set for half brightness. If set to full brightness the screen rips and tears badly. It looks like a hardware problem to me (as opposed to a software problem that can be fixed with an update). I will try it at 3/4 brightness for a few days. If the problem returns I will go through the RMA process.
