Alexa plays music (the last channel I was listening to on Amazon Music) without command. I have told Amazon about this months ago and they said they didn't know why and just told me to reset the device. Typical IT solution. So I have done that and it still occurs.
I have looked at the app and there is no even that triggers the playing of the station.
But I do know what causes it, and it's repeatable!
My bluetooth speaker is connected to Alexa when I play the station. When I turn off the bluetooth speaker, after I have said "alexa stop", the echo dot will start to play through it's own speaker. This also happens when I change the "input" for the speaker from Bluetooth (where Alexa was attached) to cable or DVD or PS4, etc.
Alexa does not like to have it's bluetooth taken away from it. It freaks out and starts playing the last station, even though I have told her to stop before changing the bluetooth connection.
Our Echo woke us up at 4.45am this morning playing music, I came downstairs and told it to stop, went back to bed. It started again! Came down, told it to stop, went back to bed. A few minutes later it starts again on full volume! It was so loud that Alexa couldn't hear me shouting for it to stop. I unplugged it!
No bluetooth devices paired. AND there is nothing about it in the history!
I've sent a feedback - or I think I have as went I hit send the screen just went blank!
Me too. Twice this week it has awakened me around 1am and started music or a program I had “stopped” earlier. And when I came home this afternoon, a radiho station I was playing and stopped in the morning was booming away in an empty house. I will try the Bluetooth rigamarole, but what a nuisance.
My Echo Dot in the bedroom and 2nd Gen Echo in the Kitchen kept playing music randomly today. Both were playing different music at the same time at one point. Neither room was occupied at the time. I checked the app, and it showed 2 songs queued to play in the bedroom, including the one that started randomly playing. I had to tell them both to stop a couple of times tonight. Spooky.
This has happened a couple times to one of our 4 devices also - an Echo Spot in a bedroom. It was not loud, nor was it in the middle of the night, but I happened to walk by the room and heard it. This Spot has never been connected to any Bluetooth devices. Two other devices have been in the past connected to a Bluetooth but are not now, and both of the Bluetooth devices are not even powered up, nor were they when the sporadic music started.
I have 4 Echo devices and this same problem occurs on one of them. It is located in a guest room and guests keep being woke up by it playing music. After multiple issues in a single night, they just unplugged it. Nothing in the logs show that it was responding to a command.
Not a reply but same problem here. Sunday morning 5:40 am, Echo playing music in guest bedroom. Dogs started barking. Tell her to stop, she does and then plays music again and again. Had to unplug her. Nothing in history. Is she possessed? Need our beauty rest!
Have no idea if this relates to your problem but the same thing happens to me.
I get audio books from the library which i download to a tablet. I then blue tooth the tablet to the echo and listen that way. Then in the middle of the night and sometimes in the day my audio book starts over the echo. I am nowhere near the tablet or the echo. I noticed after a couple of weeks that every time an app updates or downloads on the tablet somehow the audio book wakes up which then sends it by blue tooth to the echo.
This happened to me too - a few weeks ago at 5am and then 3am, playing a radio station that I had set up in skills. I disabled the skill thinking it was that but then this morning at 5:30am, it started to play Spanish music (never listened to Spanish music in my life).
Anyway, there is a ‘do not disturb’ option that you can schedule. Go to your devices, click on the one that’s causing issues, or all, scroll down, click do not disturb and schedule the timeframe. Apparently this won’t interfere with Alarms or Timers. Fingers crossed it works!
Mine has been doing this and we don't listen to music through it. It's played hip hop, rap and just now.... at 1:14am.. some song that was really good for once but no idea what. Always around 1am, usually music i hate and super loud. I have to unplug it. It does it every week
Happened to me this morning at 4 AM from music that was played on Saturday (today is Friday). This is not the first time it has happened, but the first in some time so I thought they fixed it. That device is connected to a bluetooth speaker, so not sure if that has anything to do with it at all as it seems to be the only device to ever do it. I sent in feedback once again about the issue.
